Enable Embedded UM

Choose "Yes" to enable the Embedded UM feature for all configured mailboxes.

No

IMAP Server

The IMAP server address (IPv4, IPv6 or FQDN) that Embedded UM synchronizes voice messages with.

Blank

IMAP Server Connection Type

Select the type of connection to the IMAP Server:

Clear - Connections to the IMAP server are made in the clear on TCP port 143. The security of this connection is weak because account usernames and passwords are sent unencrypted and anyone who can sniff this connection could potentially obtain them.

STARTTLS - Connections are established over TCP port 143. If the server supports STARTTLS, Embedded UM negotiates a secure TLS connection making usernames and passwords safe. If STARTTLS is not supported, the connection is clear and insecure.

SSL - With SSL enabled, the UM Embedded IMAP creates an SSL connection to the IMAP server on TCP port 993. Unlike Clear and STARTTLS there is no fallback to Clear.

NOTE: Clear connections provide the system administrator with more control over system resources. SSL/TLS connections consume much more CPU and RAM than clear connections and these resources may be limited on the server hosting the IMAP server. In an environment where eavesdropping is unlikely, a Clear connection type may be acceptable.

Clear

IMAP Server Port [default = 143]

Enter the TCP port number for Clear or STARTTLS connections to the IMAP server (if not using the default port 143).

NOTE: When changing the port number, all connections to the IMAP server are dropped and new connections are established to the new port. The Embedded UM services are interrupted during the change.

143

IMAP Server SSL Port [default = 993]

Enter the TCP port number for SSL connections to the IMAP server (if not using the default port 993).

993
